Holidays are more fun with festive shirts

Today, I am celebrating being festive. Since my house is on the market, and I am not bringing out all of my fall decorations, I decided that I'd overcompensate in the fashion department. ;)

I went to Hobby Lobby this week because I saw that all of their Halloween fabrics was on sale and picked up these cute designs.

I had already purchased two long-sleeved black shirts from Dharma Trading Co back when I bought back to school shirts and Stuff for Disney sewing.

I also restocked my sewing closet with Heat and Bond,

And then scoured Pinterest for an appliqué idea.

I loved this one:

So, I pulled out my mom's old Singer (since I have yet to learn my new machine) and used a simple zig-zag stitch to make these two shirts for my two little soon-to-be festive girls.

Think we'll celebrate with a playground party tonight!

Halloween Fun

Halloween gets more fun each year! This year we had a Minnie Mouse and a Strawberry Shortcake in our house. They were some cuties!
This Minnie Mouse started posing this way at our Halloween Party with friends, and I think it perfectly captures her little 2-year-old personality.
Minnie and Snow White bonded at the party, and Ansley kept asking if she could go trick-or-treating with sweet Rowan. I love little friends.
This is *most* of my cute class after our costume parade. That cute little Yoda makes me want boy babies. Not happening, but just sayin.'
I love preschool parties. I have the cutest, funnest moms in my class, and they did a great job making the party so special for their kiddos.
Addison's dress rehearsal...
We carved pumpkins on Ansley's Birthday. We thought it would be cool do do Elmo since we had an Elmo cake and balloons and napkins... Addison, however, wanted a jack-o-lantern... So we did a traditional one for her.
I loved getting to go to Ansley's fall party too. They made spiders and passed out treats to their friends and ate spider cookies that I made for them.
Another one from our friend fall party. Addison and Micah are kindred spirits I tell you, and look at that little Minnie poser again. (PS, don't know why my iphone app jumbles my pictures out of order.
It is kind of tricky on party days when you are the teacher but also a mom of a kid in your class, but I so enjoyed getting to be such a big part of this experience.
One of the games was to wrap a partner as a mummy. These are the Addisons, and they are quite the pair, let me tell you! I also got wrapped with all the leftover toilet paper. Fun times...
More party pics...
About to go trick or treating. About halfway through, Addison yelled, "This is the BEST Halloween EVER!" and Ansley followed with, "Yes ma'am!" Loved it.
And we're back to the school party... crazy app...
Our cutest trick or treater made Patrick especially giddy and nostalgic with his costume.
My spider cookies... loved finding a treat that Ansley could enjoy every bit of!

Playing catch up

I just realized that it is almost December, and I never blogged about Halloween... Don't want to miss this opportunity to post pics of my little sweethearts.
We kept it simple this year and let the girls dress in their birthday party themes: a ladybug and Dora. They got to trick or treat at school with their friends.
They even came to Mommy's room:

It was super cold that night, so we quickly transitioned our Dora into a little butterfly--which I thought complimented her little ladybug sis so well. Thank goodness for dress up boxes, right! We got to trick or treat with some cute pirates after our traditional 1st chili of the season supper.

Addison is so into every holiday this year, and Halloween was super fun for her. Addison is really into scary stories; she loves ghosts and witches and getting scared--but no too scared. She and Savannah went all around our neighborhood and then went through their loot like Linds and I used to. This Halloween was fun for me too--especially considering that I spent the last one in the hospital with a super-jaundiced Ansley, and we missed out on the tricks and treats. We sure did soak it all up this year.

I missed Halloween...

but thankfully my little Minnie Mouse didn't.

I'm so thankful that we had a Halloween Dress Rehearsal, so I could see my little girl in action. Her practice phrase came out like this: "Trick or Treat. Give me some candles, please!" She got to trick-or-treat with her friends at school thanks to Nana and Pop. Daddy took her to our church's trunk or treat, and she even came up and trick-or-treated at my hospital room.

In this picture, she is "smiling like the pumpkin" next to her. This is one of her favorite faces that she came up with all on her own, and it has also become our ploy for more effectively brushing her teeth!
We also had another sweet little treat, and even though she was being ushered in and out ever-so-quickly, we managed to snap this!

Happy Halloween!

Hope everyone had a happy and safe Halloween!
Now, it's on to Thanksgiving!
