I've officially entered the stage where my sleeping comfort level has been compromised. I can't stay comfortable. Sleeping on my side--not my method of choice--has made my hips feel like they've aged 40 years in 2 weeks. When I get up to go to the bathroom INCESSANTLY, I move like I need a walker.
A couple of weeks ago, I began having leg cramps in my calf every third night or so. Patrick has gotten used to me crying out deliriously in my sleep, "MY LEG! MY LEG!" Very patiently, he goes to the end of the bed and pushes my foot back--relieving me of the strange sensation. I tell you, he's a trooper. He doesn't even flinch anymore...
Until one night last week. This story I am now going to recount is not one that I remember, but one that Patrick assures me I participated in ever-so-emphatically and wholeheartedly... So, it's the middle of the night, and I cry out, "My BUTT! MY BUTT!" Patrick, as usual, goes to the end of the bed, and thinking that what I really mean is, "MY LEG!", he begins pushing back my foot. I then cry out, "NO! MY BUTT! IT'S CRAMPING! GRAB IT! GRAB IT!" I'm sure at this point he's thinking I'm crazy, but not wanting to mess with his deliriously pregnant wife, he obliges my request, and I start moaning, "ahhh, thank you...thank YOU!" Like a light switch, I am back to sleep, and he lies there dumbfounded about what just happened...
The next morning, with a smirk on his face, he asks me how I slept. I said something about feeling really weird and remembering having tension in my lower back/rear end, and he busted out with the story through fits of laughter...
This is crazy... No more Vicky dreams, but man... There is no telling what I will do/say next...

I too laughed out loud at this mental picture. Kudos to Patrick - I knew he was a good one when you found him!! It's not much longer!!

I am cracking up!!! Definitely had the leg cramps but never the butt cramps! :) What a sweet husband you have though. Love you!!
I did the same thing with the leg cramps! hilarious.
So sorry you are cramping!! May I suggest bananas? I craved them during pregnancy, sometimes eating up to two a day and it helped LOTS with the cramps!!! Hold tight, your almost finished!

Oh, I second the banana thing. Never had pregnancy-related leg cramps, but bananas were great for running-related leg cramps!
Too funny!
Kristy, you will think I am sooo crazy, but this REALLY works. I had the leg cramps too, and poor Chad would have to do the same thing for me. They are horrible! But my Grandaddy, who is a farmer and is all about some home remedies, told me to sleep with a bar of Ivory soap. I was skeptical but I was willing to try anything. I never had any cramps the rest of my pregnancy. Seriously. Just get the soap, take it out of the box, put it in your bed, under the sheets, down by your legs. It seriously works. Might want to take a picture for laughs and then do a follow-up post. :)
Thanks for all of the laughs and suggestions! My leg cramps are pretty infrequent, but I am definitely going to try the ivory soap, Haley. I'll definitely take a picture too! :) I'm already a banana girl, so maybe that's keeping me from having them too bad.
You know you said that BEFORE you were preg! HAHAHA.
That is hilarious! I was laughing out loud on this one. I hope the soap helps!
ok... making a girl that just had a c-section laugh that hard is almost a bit cruel... just kidding... clint and i laughed out loud and remembered similar not so distant times! Good luck with the sleeping. Eat tums and bananas it cuts down on the cramping!
That was so funny, I made Adam read it. Thanks for sharing with us. For the aches and pains, take soaking baths in epson salts. My body ached so bad during my pregnancy with Emma. I learned about the epson salts, so with Chloe, I took them religiously, and felt great at the end. I'm not sure about the leg cramps but come to think of it, I didn't have many of them either. Also helps with swelling, wore my rings to the hospital at 40 weeks and one day! Seriously it works wonders.
Ohmigosh!! I just read this - I'm a slacking, I know. But how freakin' funny!!!! Thanks for making my day!
Love.
