Sad, I know, but this year I'm just over it... Don't tell the turkey--or the pilgrims. We're ready for Christmas! This weekend, I decided that I wanted to be able to enjoy my last few weeks of maternity leave with a decorated home. Last night, Patrick and I ventured into our attic closet solely filled with our Christmas garb. As we pulled out each tub filled to the brim with decorations, we became giddy with excitement. {Patrick too. Seriously. He LOVES our house decorated for Christmas... and I LOVE that about him! :)}
To be fair, I gave my fall decor their due. I decorated in mid-September because with Addison's arrival, I knew that would be last on my priority list, and I wanted to come home from the hospital to a warmly festive home. Here are a couple of my favorite fall items.
#1 I LOVE white pumpkins, and this was my dining room centerpiece. I found the acorn branches at an antique store here in Franklin, and it provides a nice contrast to the white.
#2 This iron pumpkin is something I found at Holiday Market a couple of years ago in Montgomery. Sometimes it's my kitchen table centerpiece; sometimes it sits on the corner of my peninsula; in this pic, it is residing on my end table in my living room.
Now, for Christmas, I am obsessed with some of Anthropologie's new ornaments. We are thinking of getting the "P," "K," and "A," letter for our tree. I love and am totally into the cupcake fad that is currently "all the rage." {Note my cupcake tree in the former post as well as my "hot spot" post! Of course, they are on the "no-no" list right now with my dairy-free living...} I also am always drawn to owls, and I've been collecting them since the Chi-O days.

haha! i feel the same way. And I would have totally done that if I were on my way back tow ork. might as well! im kind of procrastinating, because Jamin gets mad at me with all the work it entails. but i have a blast. I may just get him to do the manly stuff, like assemblying (yeah thats not a word) the tree, and then go away while I do the fun stuff.
I LOOOOOOOVE it. Bring on Christmas! Yay! I may even give into Christmas Village this weekend. Can't wait. Miss you madly!
YESSS! I just showed Chad this post because he told me it was too early to decorate. But after Halloween I just about can't wait any longer! You only get to have your Christmas decor up for about a MONTH, anyway, if you wait until after Thanksgiving. At least you have a good excuse... I may have to wait a bit longer :(
I love your fall decor (and the owl ornament)!
You asked about the Karen Kingsbury series. I know lots of people who like her books--are you enjoying them?? I've read a few but not an entire series. Truthfully, she's not one of my favorites, but I'm not sure why. :) I like Francine Rivers and Melody Carlson better (if we're talking Christian fiction). I can't put my finger on a reason, though.
Oh, and Addison's mixed UA/AU outfit in the earlier post--too cute. She's precious!
My problem is that I love to decorate, but I hate packing it all back up afterwards. Maybe if it was up longer than a month, it wouldn't seem so bad. But, I'll be honest, I'm still not ready for "Jingle Bells" to be playing while I shop at Target. Addison is just precious and so is Savannah. PS. About the diapers... one of mine had a milk allergy too, but we learned that it was only when I ate way too much dairy at one time. I didn't have to get rid of everything, just had to watch not over-doing it, which I always do with dairy! He was fine by his first b-day to go on to cow's milk, so hopefully Addison will be too.
Your blog definitely put me in the Christmas spirit. We went to see Christmas Carol last weekend at Shakesphere, so that helped too. Your house is always so cute at Christmas. Happy decorating!
The ornaments at Anthro are going quickly. We got the letters and owl last night! Don't miss out! :)
